"#34, Sunnyside Series", acrylic on canvas, 18" x 72", 2017. Sold
I have been working on this painting for awhile now and am excited to have finally finished it.
This is the first painting in the series that captures a section the Sunnyside shore which has now
changed. So, this painting is really a look into the past. The white house with the green trim
in the foreground is no longer there, having been replaced by a large new home.
For the thirty years I have lived at Cultus lake, this spot on the beach has always
looked the same, with the white and green house having always been boarded up.
In this sense the scene is a real throwback to a time when many of these old cabins were
seasonal, occupied in the warm months and boarded up the rest of the year.
